Alford Family Farm
Koi Tank
We have an amazing 6,000 gallon tank, inside an air-conditioned barn, with 17 Koi. Most are imported from Japan! While you can't touch the Koi, you can feed them! We do have to limit the amount of food they can eat each day so if your youngin' is a fish lovin' kind of kid, make sure to come early! And if you have more than one child, it may help to know that one quarter provides one handful.
Puppies
Although our 3 Field English Cockers stay in the house with us and don’t really have a specific FARM JOB, they very much are a part of the Alford FAMILY, so they are a part of the farm! I guess you could say they feel they keep all of the other animals in line! The gophers get dug for, the pigs get barked at, the chickens get chased, the eggs get eaten, and generally speaking, the grounds get patrolled for our safety as well as their enjoyment, under the close supervision of “Mom”.

Kitties
Linus and Lucy are brother and sister, but they have very different personalities! Although they are both friendly cats and love to be pet, Lucy has become our "house" cat and Linus is our "barn" cat because it seems once they grew up, they decided they didn't like each other! You might find another addition to our cat family this year! "Tinker Bell" as our granddaughter named her has adopted us as her new family and spends some of her time in the barn with Linus...
Pheasants
Our beautiful pheasants are the ambassadors and guardians of our iris garden. They live quite happily in the middle of the garden in their hut like enclosure.
Peacocks
It's been 4 years now since we added our 2 male peacocks to our farm family...Leonardo and Donatello have now developed their adult plumage and can often be caught showing their beautiful new fans to each other.

Introducing Sir Galahad
Sir Galahad is an African Spurred Tortoise.
There are many rescue societies in the U.S. that take these gentle giants in after their owners are no longer able to provide them with the amount of land and grass they require. They can live to be 100 years old and grow to 1,000 lbs. in their lifetime.
This tortoise came to us from a farm in Waxahachie, TX. Sir Galahad's diet consists of 90% grass with the occasional treats of carrots, green pepper, berries and store bought romaine lettuce. There only real predator in Texas is fire ants believe it or not! He is 36 years old and weighs approximately 150 lbs.
